4-star Clemson recruit among Charlotte Observer prep football players of the week

Derion Kendrick, Rock Hill South Pointe: Led his team to a 33-27 win at national power Buford (Ga.). The Clemson recruit threw for 134 yards and two scores and ran for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Buford is an 11-time Georgia state champion that is 58-5 since 2013 and is now 9-1 all time against teams from outside of Georgia.

Jarrett Nagy, Hough: Ran 35 times for 274 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-23 win over Ardrey Kell. He also led the Huskies with nine tackles on defense. Nagy set a school record for single-game rushing yards and turned in the 44th best single-game performance in Mecklenburg County history.

Jake Alexander, Belmont South Point: 29 carries, 259 yards, four touchdowns in Friday’s 41-14 win over Stuart Cramer. South Point has won 15 straight games.

Zavion Williams, Bessemer City: 16 carries, 173 yards and three touchdowns in Friday’s 32-27 win over North Lincoln. Bessemer City, which trailed 13-0 and 27-24, improved to 4-0 for the first time since 1965.

Justin Olson, North Meck: Backup QB filled in for junior starter Aaron Scott in Friday’s 35-10 win over Cox Mill. Olson was 9-for-14 passing for 147 yards. He rushed 11 times for 117 yards and a score. North Meck is 4-0 and jumped into the Sweet 16 poll this week.
