Unbeaten North Meck High sails into Observer Sweet 16 football poll
There’s one new team in this week’s Sweet 16 prep football poll: the North Mecklenburg Vikings.
North Meck is 4-0, off to its best start in 18 years. In fact, since 2009, North Meck has won more than four games in a season just once – going 7-5 in 2015. But under first-year coach Eric Morman, the Vikings are averaging 32 points per game in 2017 and look like a legitimate league title contender.
North Meck beat Cox Mill 35-10 last week. The Vikings begin I-MECK 4A play Friday against Mooresville (2-2).
▪ There’s not much movement in the poll this week. Rock Hill South Pointe, ranked in the top 10 of several national polls, remains No. 1. The Stallions face No. 9 Shelby Friday.
