Olympic High, and its defense, holding steady in Observer Sweet 16 basketball poll
When he was the head boys coach at West Charlotte, Baronton Terry returned the Lions program to its perch atop N.C. high school basketball with ferocious defense.
He’s beginning to do the same thing at Olympic.
The Trojans (16-3), No. 9 in this week’s Observer Sweet 16 basketball poll, have won 10 straight games since their last loss in late December. In the win streak, only three teams have scored more than 60 points. Five of them didn’t reach 50 points and a sixth didn’t reach 40.
Junior Jalen Barr (13.2 points per game), senior Jalen Harris (11.8) and sophomore Josh Banks (11.2) lead a balanced team that is closing on a SoMeck championship.
