Indian Trail Sun Valley (3-0) at Olympic (1-3), Wednesday, 6: Charlotte fans can get a look at future Florida State QB Sam Howell, who has led Sun Valley to an average of 41 points per game. Olympic snapped a three-game losing streak with Friday’s 38-35 overtime victory over Hopewell.
Concord Cox Mill (3-1) at North Mecklenburg (3-0), Wednesday, 6: Cox Mill has won two straight games and is allowing only 10 points per week. The Chargers should provide a test for a hot North Mecklenburg team that’s scored 116 points in three games.
Kings Mountain (3-0) at Shelby (1-3), Friday, 7:30: This is a tough spot for Shelby to try to snap a rare three-game losing streak. Kings Mountain has outscored teams 48-8. Shelby will try to avoid going 0-3 against its Cleveland County rivals, after losing to Lawndale Burns and Boiling Springs Crest the past two weeks.
Boiling Springs Crest (3-0) at Weddington (3-0), Wed, 7: Crest has beaten traditional powers Asheville Reynolds, Belmont South Point and Cleveland County rival Shelby to earn its first 3-0 start since 2015, when the Chargers were an unbeaten state champ. Weddington, a 2016 state champ, is on track for its sixth straight season with double digits wins. This is one of the best games in North Carolina this week.
Greenville, S.C. (3-1) at Rock Hill South Pointe (2-1), Friday, 7:30: MaxPreps ranks South Pointe as the No. 9 4A team in South Carolina, and the four-time state champs were off last week after beating Fort Mill Nation Ford 60-14 Aug. 31. Greenfield, No. 30 in MaxPreps 4A poll, has won three games easily and lost 25-24 to Belton-Honea-Path (2-1) Aug. 31.
