Tuesday’s key games
No. 4 Cannon School (20-6, 6-0 CISAA) at Charlotte Latin (17-6, 4-2), 7:30: Cannon will try to get a three-game lead in the league and earn at least a share of the conference title. Latin guard Randy Johnson committed to Holy Cross Sunday and will try to help his team avoid back-to-back losses.
No. 10 Ardrey Kell (14-4, 6-1 SoMECK) at Harding (13-6, 3-4), 7:30: Ardrey Kell was upset by South Meck Friday and now leads Olympic (13-5, 5-2) and the Sabres (9-8, 5-2) by one game. Harding nearly upset Olympic Friday before losing by a point. The Rams try to get a win to keep them in the conference title race at home.
Hopewell girls (13-5, 5-3 I-MECK) at No. 2 Vance (14-4, 6-2), 6: Hopewell has won three straight games and is tied with Lake Norman for the second-best league record. Above them are three teams tied for first: Vance, Mallard Creek (15-2, 6-2) at North Mecklenburg (13-4, 6-2). Lake Norman visits Mallard Creek Tuesday in another monster league game.
Olympic girls (12-4, 5-2 SoMECK) at No. 11 South Mecklenburg (13-3, 5-2), 6: South Mecklenburg has won six in a row and is tied with Olympic for second place behind No. 6 Providence. The Sabres play at Providence Friday. Under coach Jessica Freeman, Olympic has its most wins since 2010.
