Cannon School hires new head football coach to replace former Carolina Panthers star
Cannon School has hired Jamie Bolton has the new director of its football program.
Bolton will coach the Cabarrus Warriors, a team made up of players from Cannon School and Concord First Assembly. The two schools began combining players last season as a way to battle dwindling numbers of potential players at both schools. The teams agreed to the two-school arrangement for three seasons: 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Bolton replaces former Carolina Panthers fan favorite Brad Hoover, who coached at Cannon for five seasons.
“Jamie appealed to our athletes and parents because of his high character and his culture-based vision for our football program,” said Russ Campbell, Cannon’s interim athletic director. “The success Jamie has demonstrated as an offensive coordinator in South Carolina, along with his plan to reinvigorate our program from the ground up made him a great fit.”
Bolton has 12 years experience as offensive assistant and offensive coordinator, most recently at York Comprehensive High School.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead Cannon’s football program into the future,” Bolton said. “From the moment I stepped on campus, I understood that Cannon was truly committed to excellence, and I cannot wait to instill that same mission into our football program.”
