Two new teams join The Observer’s Sweet 16 poll this week: from Lincoln and Union Counties

Two new teams join The Charlotte Observer Sweet 16 this week: Monroe and East Lincoln.

Monroe, a 2A team from Union County, is off to a 3-0 start. The Redhawks are outscoring opponents 137-16, counting Friday’s 54-10 win over Concord.

East Lincoln, from Lincoln County, is off to a 3-0 start. In three weeks, East has allowed just eight total points, counting Friday’s 27-0 win over Lincolnton.

Elsewhere in the poll, Providence Day maintains the top spot after Friday’s last second win over Charlotte Catholic. The top eight spots remain the same.
