Ardrey Kell’s Chancellor Bryant is Observer/Deer Park Water defensive player of the week

For the third time this season, Ardrey Kell’s Chancellor Bryant is The Charlotte Observer/Deer Park Water high school football defensive player of the week.

Bryant had 11 tackles in a 28-3 win against Palisades. On offense, Bryant caught four passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns.

This week’s other defensive nominees

Brody Barnhardt, Providence Day: In a 54-7 win against Charlotte Latin to seal the Big South conference championship, Barnhardt had four tackles and two QB huriees plus two punt returns for 30 yards. On offense, he had a 19-yard run and 22-yard pass reception.

Tyrek Brown, Mallard Creek: Brown had 12 tackles, including two tackles for a loss in a 21-6 upset win against Chambers.

Nick Darling, Butler: Darling had 13 tackles, plus two sacks in a 35-23 win against Independence for the Southwestern 4A championship. Darliing also had a forced fumble.

Jakota Hase, Covenant Day: In a 20-14 upset win against NCISAA power High Point Christian, Hase had four tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery. On offense, he had three catches for 63 yards and he scored two touchdowns.

Jayden Olden, Monroe: The senior had a game-high 15 tackles in a 56-6 win against West Stanly.

Khiyale Washington, Mountain Island Charter: In a 27-21 win against Corvian Community School, Washington had a team-high 19 tackles and one sack.

Jack Yenichek, Christ The King: In a 31-22 win against Bishop McGuinness, Yenichek had 12 tackles on defense, passing 100 for the season. He started at QB for the first time and ran for 170 yards and four scores.
