Joel Mason, West Charlotte soccer: The Lions’ junior midfielder scored the game-winning goal with three minutes left to give West Charlotte a 3-2 victory at rival Harding on Aug. 28.

Mason has two goals and two assists for a West Charlotte team (2-3) that has won two straight games.

Lucas Morton, Metrolina Christian soccer: The Warriors’ senior forward scored one goal and had two assists in a 5-1 win over Westminster Catawba on Aug. 28.

Morton has five goals and four assists for the Warriors this season.

Joshua Priest, SouthLake Christian cross-country: The Eagles’ senior ran a 19:41 to finish fifth at the season-opening Metrolina Athletic conference meet.

Priest is also student body president of the SouthLake Christian Leadership Council.

Edwin Ramirez, West Lincoln soccer: The Rebels’ junior forward had three goals and two assists in a 7-0 win over Cherryville on Aug. 25.

Myers Wood, Union Academy soccer: The Cardinals’ senior forward scored one goal and had two assists in a 6-2 victory over Central Academy on Aug. 26.

Wood also had four goals and an assist in a 6-2 win at Monroe on Aug. 27.

Wood finished off the week with one more goal and one more assist in a 9-0 victory over Math and Science Academy of Charlotte (Concord campus) on Aug. 28.

Wood has 10 goals and seven assists for Union Academy (7-1) this season
