These boys’ basketball teams are the best in NC, according to our rankings

There were 15 new girls’ basketball teams in this week’s N.C. statewide high school basketball polls, which were released Wednesday, and the latest boys’ rankings paint a similar story.

There are 14 newly ranked teams after the poll took a hiatus during the holidays.

In addition, there are four new No. 1 teams in the nine polls: Greensboro Day (NCISAA), Southern Durham (NCHSAA 7A), Northern Nash (NCHSAA 6A), Reidsville (NCHSAA 4A).

The rankings are sponsored by The Charlotte Observer and The News & Observer of Raleigh. They are compiled by longtime N.C. high school basketball expert Rick Lewis, a co-host of The Observer’s streaming Talking Preps show.
