Charlotte-Area High School Football Players of the Week
Bates Jones, Charlotte Latin: Jones and the Hawks had to beat rival Charlotte Country Day to qualify for the N.C. Independent Schools Division I playoffs. Jones responded by going 14-of-14 for 195 yards and two scores in a 49-14 win.
Andrew Dziuk, Hough: Four sacks in a 30-6 win over North Mecklenburg Friday, including three in the second half. Hough clinched a share of its first-ever conference title.
Travis Ramseur, Statesville: Nine carries, 249 yards, five touchdowns in a 77-43 win over Alexander Central. He averaged 28 yards per carry.
Jorden Freeman, Garinger: 287 receiving yards in Friday’s 47-28 loss to Myers Park. Freeman’s yardage is fourth-best in Mecklenburg County history and a new school record. Garinger QB Jakeenen Whitmire threw for 347 yards.
Trey Hodge, East Mecklenburg: Three interceptions in Friday’s 41-7 win over Porter Ridge. He had more than 100 return yards on the interceptions. Hodge, who had a punt return for a score called back, had eight tackles.
Manasseh Missick, Union Academy: Missick led his team to its first-ever win over Albemarle, 40-13 Friday, hitting 10-of-15 passes for 255 yards and two scores. He finished with 298 total yards on offense, eight tackles and two interceptions.
