Charlotte-Area High School Basketball Players of the Week
Eleah Parker, Northside Christian girls: In three games last week at the Hoodies House tournament, the 6-foot-4 junior totaled 62 points and 65 rebounds. It was one of the best performances in tournament history. She also picked an offer from Tennessee.
Sage Surratt, East Lincoln: Junior guard had a career-high 40 points and 16 rebounds as East Lincoln, ranked No. 7 in MaxPreps N.C. 2A poll, upset Hibriten 71-70 Saturday. Hibriten was ranked No. 2 in 3A by MaxPreps. Surratt also had 29 points and 13 rebounds in a 78-58 win over Comenius in the East Lincoln Winter Jam championship last week.
Nick Dietrich, Central Academy at Lake Park: MVP of the Central Academy Christmas tournament, Dietrick had 25 points in a semifinal win over Community Christian and 36 in a championship win over Charlotte Secondary.
Chantel Williams, Mallard Creek girls: game-high 18 points in East Lincoln Winter Jam final win over Butler. Williams was named tournament MVP and her team repeated as tournament champs.
Mahaley Holit, Central Cabarrus girls: 20 points, seven assists in a win over Rock Hill South Pointe last week at South Meck’s Christmas tournament. On the second day of the event, Holit had 22 points in a win over Garinger.
Grant Williams, Providence Day: Hit game-winning shot to beat nationally Wheeler (GA) in the semifinals of the Hoodies House national bracket and then had 14 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block in a 66-56 win over Norcross (Ga.) in the championship game. Providence Day became the first local team to win the national bracket field at the event.
