Tuesday’s Key Games
Charlotte Christian at Providence Day doubleheader, 6: One of the county’s best rivalries renews. The No. 1 Providence Day boys (20-3, 3-0 CISAA) played second-place Covenant Day on Monday night and will face a rested Christian team (7-12, 0-3). In the girls game, No. 2 Providence Day (17-2, 3-0) led Christian (12-6, 2-1) by a game in the league race before Monday’s meeting with Covenant Day.
No. 11 Cuthbertson (14-3, 4-1 Southern Carolina) at No. 7 Weddington (13-4, 4-0), 7:30 p.m.: Union County and conference rivals meet for first place in what’s likely to be a packed gym Tuesday. Both teams have won four straight games.
▪ Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has canceled classes for Tuesday, so all CMS games are off and will be rescheduled. The Southwestern 4A swim meet, scheduled for Tuesday, will be held Thursday at 8 a.m. at Charlotte Latin. The Southwestern 4A indoor track meet is Wednesday at Rocky River.
The MECKA swim meet is Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Huntersville Aquatic Club.
