Cabarrus County’s Rechon “Leaky” Black and Lavar Batts have received invitations to the National Basketball Players Association top 100 camp. The camp will be held June 14-18 at the University of Virginia.
Providence Day rising junior point guard Devon Dotson has also been invited to the camp.
Black, a 6-7 rising junior point guard, is the No. 1 recruit from North Carolina in the class of 2018 and a consensus top 20 recruit nationally. Last season at Concord High, he averaged 14 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, two steals and two blocks. He led the Spiders to a 23-5 record. Black committed to UNC in January. He also attended the prestigious adidas nations camp for some of the nation’s top recruits last month.
Like Black, Batts is considered the state’s top recruit in his class. Batts, a 6-2 point guard, will be a senior next season.
