Panthers-Ravens inactives: Hartsfield, Walker sidelined; Darnold active for first time

The Carolina Panthers will be without quarterback PJ Walker (ankle), defensive back Myles Hartsfield (ankle) and defensive tackle Matt Ioannidis (calf) during Sunday’s road matchup against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium.

As expected, Walker — who has started the past five games at quarterback — was among the inactives for the Panthers in Week 11. Walker sustained a high ankle sprain in last week’s win over the Atlanta Falcons. He was ruled out ahead of the matchup against Baltimore.

Former starting quarterback Sam Darnold will don a helmet, pads and uniform for the first time during the regular season as the backup to Panthers starter Baker Mayfield.

Hartsfield was listed as “doubtful” on Friday, while Ioannidis was ruled out. However, the Panthers downgraded Hartsfield to “out” on Saturday afternoon and the defensive back didn’t travel with the team to Baltimore.

Hartsfield has been a standout while filling in for safety Jeremy Chinn in the secondary during the past six weeks. However, Chinn (hamstring) was activated from injured reserve on Saturday, so Hartsfield will essentially be trading places with him on the sideline.

On the Ravens side, the hosting team will be without running back Gus Edwards and outside linebacker David Ojabo.

Below are the entire inactive lists for both teams:

Panthers

S Juston Burris (concussion/illness)

DB Myles Hartsfield (ankle)

DT Matt Ioannidis (calf)

QB PJ Walker (ankle)

TE Giovanni Ricci (neck)

OT Larnel Coleman

WR Rashard Higgins

Ravens

CB Jalyn Armour-Davis (hip)

RB Gus Edwards (hamstring)

LB Josh Bynes

G Ben Cleveland

TE Charlie Kolar

OLB David Ojabo
