Panthers won’t host fans at training camp in 2025 and 2026 due to construction
The construction in and around the Carolina Panthers’ practice field in uptown Charlotte will prevent fan attendance at training camp over the next two summers.
The team announced Wednesday that the ongoing upgrades being made to the practice field, which resides just outside of Bank of America Stadium, will sideline fan attendance in 2025 and 2026.
Prior to this announcement, the 2020 training camp, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, had been the only training camp slate in team history to not feature fan attendance.
The Panthers, who moved training camp from Spartanburg, South Carolina, to their home base in uptown last year, are planning to revamp the facility with several new features. Prior to 2024, the team had practiced at Wofford College since the team’s inception in 1995, but the Panthers made the decision to return to Charlotte last year, which received a polarizing reaction from the fan base.
While the Panthers won’t be able to house fans for daily training camp practice, the team still plans to host its annual Fan Fest on Saturday, Aug. 2, at Bank of America Stadium. The team will provide more information on that event once details are finalized, according to a spokesperson.
Despite the construction, the team plans to host the Cleveland Browns for joint practice in Charlotte. Panthers head coach Dave Canales and Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski both acknowledged the shared workout plans during the owners meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, earlier this month.
Last summer, the Panthers, while hosting fans on site at training camp, hosted the New York Jets for a training camp practice at their Charlotte facility. The previous year in Spartanburg, the Panthers were meant to host the Jets for a joint workout at Wofford College but a storm prevented the shared practice from taking place.
