Superfan repurposes Christmas tree into a ‘Panthers tree’
One Carolina Panthers superfan in Pineville has repurposed her Christmas tree into a blue-and-black Panthers tree and says she will keep it up until the Super Bowl.
Kay Chumley says she used Observer headlines and photos, images from game-day programs and tid bits from the Internet to decorate the tree, as well as painted wooden letters, snowflakes, bells and keys to “add a little flair.”
The Panthers play the Seattle Seahawks at Bank of America Stadium Sunday and if they win that playoff game, they will play again in Charlotte on Jan. 24. They advance to the Super Bowl on Feb. 7 in Santa Clara, Calif., if they win that second playoff game.
“Our tree will brighten our game days as we watch the games from home,” Chumley tells the Observer. “We are indeed fans.”
Indeed.
