For the second week in a row, one man was killed and three people were injured in a Monroe shooting early Sunday.

The shootings happened on back-to-back properties near U.S. 74. But they were "very different," Monroe police spokesman Pete Hovanec said, and police do not believe they were related.

This time, police are looking for a suspect: Torey Jermaine Brooks, 36, of Monroe, Hovanec said.

Brooks is wanted in connection with the killing of 22-year-old David Tyrone Duncan Jr., who was found with a gunshot wound on Massey Street Extension around 3 a.m., Hovanec said.

Three people showed up at a local hospital with gunshot wounds around the same time, Hovanec said.

Rene Lowery, 49, and Jessica Gibson, 26, have already been released from the hospital. Joshua Robinson, 41, is in critical but stable condition, Hovanec said.

Police determined all three shooting victims at the hospital were shot on Massey Street Extension, Hovanec said, but officers are still investigating the exact circumstances of the shooting.

Almost exactly a week before this shooting — at about 1 a.m. on April 22 — Vashawn Colston was killed and three other men were hospitalized with gunshot wounds in a shooting at the Relax Inn on U.S. 74, which backs up to Massey Street Extension.

Police said at the time that Colston and one of the injured men fired guns during the incident.

In a statement, Monroe Police Chief Bryan Gilliard thanked the Union County Sheriff's Office for its help and said officers have put in long hours in the past week.

"This has been a very exhausting week for many of our officers who have had to work this, and the shooting last week at the Relax (Inn)," he said.

Anyone with information about Brooks' whereabouts should call Monroe Police at 704-282-4700 or Union County Crime Stoppers at 704-283-5600.
