A new brewery is open in Mooresville – serving just one beer
A new company called Jolly Roger Brewing is open in Mooresville, with a limited selection: One flagship beer.
The company boasts of its status as “Lake Norman’s smallest brewery.” It’s at 236 Raceway Drive, in a nondescript, one-story building. Jolly Roger is a “pico brewery,” meaning it uses a micro-sized brewing system to create small batches.
“We are very excited about opening Jolly Roger Brew in Mooresville. It’s a one-of-a-kind brewery in this region: We only serve growlers to go, and we only serve one beer: a tropical inspired double IPA,” said Tony Philipp, the brewery’s “owner and captain.” The Island Double IPA, the beer on tap, is a 7.3 percent alcohol-by-volume beer with strong citrus notes, the company said.
The decor is “pirate-bavarian,” Philipp said, and the slogan is “Work like a captain, drink like a pirate.”
