Event that offers affordable mortgages adds extra day in Charlotte
An event that aims to help prospective homebuyers land affordable mortgages has added a fifth day in Charlotte.
NACA’s “Achieve the Dream” program will now be open on Monday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., after the group said it attracted more than 3,000 homebuyers Thursday through Saturday.
The event is being held at 5835 Executive Center Drive in the Charlotte East Business Park and is also open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
After the financial crisis, the nonprofit Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America traveled the U.S. helping struggling homeowners modify their mortgage payments to fend off foreclosure. Now, in its latest venture, NACA is launching a tour to help borrowers get affordable home loans in the first place.
“We have opened up the flood gates to homeownership for low- and moderate-income and minority homebuyers through our Achieve the Dream Event,” said NACA Founder and CEO Bruce Marks in a statement. “This sets the stage for the twenty-plus events we will be conducting around the country this year.”
NACA’s mortgages are funded by banks such as Bank of America and Citigroup and are held on the banks’ books, as opposed to being sold off to investors. The loans feature no down payment, no closing costs and a below-market fixed rate.
