Charlotte-based Moore & Van Allen has launched a sports law practice that will cater mostly to NFL clients.

The new practice group will assist athletes with their pre-draft preparation, contract negotiation, marketing and endorsements deals, media relations, nonprofit foundations, social media management, immigration issues, tax and estate planning and post-career planning, according to a statement from the firm this week.

The sports team will be based in the firm’s Charleston’s office. It will be lead by member Don Bancroft Meyer, counsel W. (Sam) Applegate and associate and NFL Players Association certified contract advisor Neil (Trey) Robinson.

“We design an individualized game plan for every client, partnering with each to support their goals and position them for success in future pursuits,” Robinson said.

MVA Sports was formed when Robinson brought his sports practice, previously called RES Agency, to the firm this year.

Moore & Van Allen is one of the largest law firms in the Southeast, with nearly 300 attorneys in its offices in Charlotte, the Research Triangle and Charleston.
