High Point-based BNC Bancorp officially took the Pinnacle Financial Partners name on Monday, making the switch three months after completing its sale to the Nashville, Tenn.-based bank.

BNC unveiled its new identity at events in six markets in the Carolinas and Virginia, including Charlotte.

“The Pinnacle brand may not yet be well known in our new markets, but we are excited to change that by proving ourselves with clients and in the community,” said Terry Turner, Pinnacle’s president and CEO, in a statement.

The change is the latest on the local banking scene after a spate of acquisitions that have been completed or announced.

The First National Bank name arrived in Charlotte this year after the Pittsburgh bank purchased Raleigh-based Yadkin Financial Corp. And in two deals that haven’t closed yet, Charlotte-based Capital Bank Financial has agreed to sell itself to Memphis, Tenn.-based First Horizon National Corp., while Charlotte-based Park Sterling Corp. is being bought up by Columbia, S.C.-based South State Corp.
