Helicopter airlifts seriously injured biker near Whitewater Center

WBTV

Emergency responders hiked nearly two miles to help a seriously hurt biker on a trail near the U.S. National Whitewater Center Sunday, WBTV has reported.

Several fire departments and a helicopter worked together to get the person to the hospital, Medic said.

The potentially life-threatening injury happened just after noon and “deep in the trails,” making the rescue more difficult, Medic said.

A Whitewater Center spokesperson said the injury happened off the center’s property, on a section of the Carolina Thread Trail. That’s a series of greenways through several counties in both North and South Carolina.

The patient was flown to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.
