Disgusting chicken sludge spews onto major Charlotte area highway from overturned rig
About 77,000 pounds of chicken sludge spewed onto Interstate 40 in Catawba County late Tuesday from an overturned 18-wheeler, media outlets reported.
A “prolonged” hazardous materials cleanup was underway at the exit 121 eastbound on-ramp near Longview, Catawba County Emergency Management tweeted at about 10 p.m.
The agency’s tweet included the hashtag “itsamess.”

Wreckers were lifting the rig at about 10:30 p.m., Observer news partner WBTV tweeted with a video from the scene.

No injuries were reported.
Drivers should take nearby exits to get around the mess.
The State Highway Patrol is on scene but has released no details of why the truck overturned.
