A power outage is affecting over 1,000 south Charlotte residents Tuesday morning.

According to the Duke Energy outage map, over 1,100 people who live along Park Road are without power. The outages were first reported around 2 a.m.

The outages stretch from Park Road Park to Sunnyvale Lane. Power is expected to be restored around 5 a.m.

There's no word on what caused the outages. A First Alert Day was in effect on Monday and strong storms swept through the area during the evening hours.

A wave of storms swept across the WBTV viewing area Monday evening uprooting several trees in some places including Caldwell County.

A family was inside their home when their house shifted and the floor fell a few feet as a tree collapsed on the roof. The large tree caused the house to split in half.
