Overturned trailer spills watermelon all over I-485/I-77 interchange

A tractor-trailer that was carrying watermelons crashed on the I-485 inner ramp to northbound I-77 in Charlotte. Huntersville Fire Department

A wreck involving a tractor-trailer caused heavy delays on I-77 and I-485 in north Charlotte Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened just before noon on the I-485 inner ramp to northbound I-77. Firefighters said a tractor-trailer carrying watermelons overturned but did not say if any other vehicles were involved.

There is no word if any injuries were reported.

Drivers were urged to use caution in the area and yield to emergency responders.

There is no word on what may have caused the crash or if any charges are being filed.
