Searchers recovered the body of a missing boater on Lake Norman late Monday.
The search ended just before 10 p.m. when the man’s body was found in water less than 10 feet deep, said Karyn Yaussy, Catawba County emergency management coordinator. The body was in the same Sherrills Ford area cove in which the man’s boat was normally docked, Yaussy said.
Authorities began searching a wide area of land and water after being notified by family members around 5 p.m. that the man had not returned as expected earlier in the day, Yaussy said. He had last been seen at 4:30 a.m. on his boat, she said.
Authorities have not released the man’s name or said whether they know any of the circumstances surrounding his death.

Catawba County sheriff’s deputies and officers with the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission recovered the body. Also helping in the search were Sherrills Ford–Terrell Fire and Rescue and Mooresville Fire Department personnel.
