Twins charged after Gastonia man dies in shooting Tuesday night
Twin brothers have been taken into custody after a Gastonia man was shot to death Tuesday night, authorities said Wednesday.
Gastonia police identified the victim as Misael Garcia Vasquez, 23. He had been shot at least once in the head, authorities said.
Police had responded to the 1000 block of East Franklin Boulevard at about 9:20 p.m. regarding a shooting. When they got there, they found Vasquez in a red Toyota Camry outside the Gray Franklin Express Mart.
He was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.
Police said they were looking for a small silver car in connection with the case.
On Wednesday afternoon, brothers Emani Jaquan Burris and Jamani Dequan Burris, both 21, were taken into custody and were each charged with felony murder, according to Gastonia police. Both live in Gastonia. Police believe the motive was robbery.
