A fraternity at UNC Charlotte has been suspended after a 20-year-old student died when she fell from a party bus Tuesday night.

Kappa-Omega, the university's chapter of the fraternity Kappa Sigma, is suspended pending an investigation into the death of Polly Rogers, the national organization announced Thursday.

The fraternity rented the party bus that Rogers fell from, WSOC reported.

The bus was traveling from an off-campus house Tuesday night on its way to uptown, when Rogers fell from an emergency window on North Tryon Street, police said.

Rogers was hit by at least two other vehicles and pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.

People on the bus were drinking alcohol, according to police, though it wasn't known if Rogers was drinking. Alcohol as a factor in her death is under investigation, WBTV reported.

“The Brothers of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Polly Rogers. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Rogers family and to her loved ones," Kappa Sigma's executive director said in a statement.

Rogers studied special education at the school, a school official said Wednesday.

She was also a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Rogers' sorority sisters started a GoFundMe on Wednesday to help pay for funeral costs..
