Charlotte 49ers’ nonconference basketball schedule includes 4 games against ‘Power 5’ teams
The Charlotte 49ers’ men’s basketball nonconference schedule includes four consecutive games against Power 5 conference teams before heading into Conference USA play in January.
The 49ers, under second-year coach Mark Price, will face the Pac 12’s Oregon State on Dec. 3 in Halton Arena, then travel to Winston-Salem to face the ACC’s Wake Forest (and former 49ers guard Keyshawn Woods) on Dec. 6. Charlotte will then play the SEC’s Florida on Dec. 17 in the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise, Fla., and the Big Ten’s Maryland on Dec. 20 in Baltimore.
The 49ers’ season opener is Nov. 11 at home against Division II’s Newberry. Charlotte also plays home games against in-state rivals Elon (Nov. 14), East Carolina (Nov. 17) and Appalachian State (Nov. 28) and is at Davidson Nov. 26.
Charlotte opens Conference USA play Dec. 31 with a home game against North Texas. The C-USA tournament is March 8-11 in Birmingham, Ala.
