Concord Robinson’s Lavar Batts commits to Virginia Commonwealth
Concord Robinson senior point guard Lavar Batts has committed to Virginia Commonwealth.
Batts, a 6-foot-1 point guard, is the No. 1 recruit in North Carolina this season and is a consensus top 100 national recruit. Batts had offers from Butler, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Nebraska and Oklahoma, among others. He had narrowed his list to Clemson and VCU and took an official visit to VCU this weekend.
Last season, he averaged 20.7 points per game and broke his school’s scoring record of 1,304 points. Batts, who now has 1,501 career points, led Robinson to the N.C. 3A state championship last March. He was named to the All-Charlotte Observer and N.C. Associated Press all-state teams.
