Monroe’s Zephaniah Wall suffers knee injury, will likely miss remainder of the season
Monroe High quarterback Zephaniah Wall suffered a serious knee injury in Thursday’s 21-7 win over Weddington. He is out for the season.
Monroe athletics director Tim Niedermeier said he’s going to have an MRI next week followed by probable surgery next month. Wall has not committed to a college but was getting interest from UNC-Pembroke, Catawba and Charleston Southern
Niedermeier said Wall’s doctors have told him he’ll be out six months, meaning he could return in time for track season.
Wall, a 5-10, 185-pound quarterback, completed 165-of-266 passes last season for 3,568 yards and 45 touchdowns. He ran 77 times for 649 yards and 10 scores. This season, Wall completed 28-of-63 passes for 350 yards and five touchdowns. He ran 50 times for 488 yards and three touchdowns, averaging nearly 10 yards per attempt.
Monroe (2-2) plays at rival Anson Senior Friday.
