Charlotte Observer high school basketball players of the week
KC Hankton, United Faith: 6-8 forward had 27 points, 14 rebounds in a victory over York Prep Saturday. He had 17 points, 10 rebounds in a victory over Walnut Grove Christian Tuesday.
Sarah Billiard, Covenant Day girls: 21 points, 21 rebounds, five blocks in a 62-35 loss to Raleigh Ravenscroft Saturday. In her team’s season-opening win over Durham Academy Friday, Billiard had 21 points, 19 rebounds, nine blocks, three steals and three assists. She also had the game-winning basket.
Maya Caldwell, Davidson Day girls: 23 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, five steals, three blocks in 65-24 win over Fayetteville Academy last week.
Parker Tompkins, Davidson Day girls: 32 points, 18 rebounds against Fayetteville Academy.
MJ Armstrong, Gaston Day: 19 points, five rebounds, four assists in 68-31 victory over Christ The King. Then 25 points, courtesy of seven 3-point shots, in a 69-59 victory over N.C. 2A Independent School state championship contender Carmel Christian.
