Rock Hill South Pointe is 2016 Charlotte Observer Sweet 16 high school football champion
Rock Hill South Pointe is the 2016 Charlotte Observer Sweet 16 high school football champion.
The Stallions (14-1) beat Hartsville 51-28 in Saturday’s S.C. 4A state championship game. It was South Pointe’s 15th straight playoff win, its third straight state championship and fifth title in 11 years. Four of the championships have come in head coach Strait Herron’s six seasons.
Of the 51 points South Pointe had, 45 were scored by juniors. That may bode well for South Pointe’s chances at a fourth straight championship next season.
