The Charlotte Hornets are working to finalize an agreement in principle to sign former Pacers and Lakers center Roy Hibbert after the NBA moratorium ends Thursday.

The Hornets closing in on a deal with Hibbert was first reported by the Vertical.

Hibbert will sign a one-year, $5-million contract with the Hornets.

Hibbert would finish out the Hornets’ free-agent shopping list after the team agreed to a two-year $12.3 million deal with Ramon Sessions to be the backup point guard.

A backup point guard and another big man were priorities within remaining salary cap space after the Hornets finalized deals to bring back forwards Nic Batum and Marvin Williams.

The Hornets had about $10 million in available space to fill those two needs.
