The Carolina Panthers got a new coach on Friday in 7-year-old Aiden Amason.

Amason took over for Braylon Beam, an honorary child coach for the past season through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Beam passed the torch to Amason, who had an introductory press conference in the hour before the start of practice.

Amason, a rising second grader at Hardin Park Elementary in Boone, is getting treatment for Stage 4 Desmoplastic Round Blue Cell Tumors – a rare form of cancer.
