Charlotte continues to grow its diverse food scene and 2017 was a big year for that growth. As we look back at the year that was, here are our top five food stories from 2017.

(1) Where to find the 8 best burgers in Charlotte.

A new addition: Look no further than the comment section of this article to find the ‘plus one’ to this list. Bang Bang Burger is definitely a contender for top burger in town. Might we recommend the Pimento Burger when you go. The mix of the housemade pimento cheese and fried pickles puts a nice Southern twist on an already great burger.

(2) The 7 best breakfast places in Charlotte

A new addition: Based off the comment section, if there were an eighth place on this list, it would have to be Famous Toastery. This is definitely one of the best spots in town to find some delicious French toast. You can even get it stuffed with raspberries, blueberries, peanut butter and banana, or strawberry and cream cheese.

(3) Worth a Taste: We tried $6, $14 and $20 fried chicken to see which was the best value.

Don’t forget: This year, we helped you find the best value in town for both pizza and cocktails, too! However, these video shoots don’t always go as planned. Check out our blooper reel from the cocktail video.

(4) The Porter’s House, a modern chophouse for the new South, opens in February

C5 Pro Tip: The Porter’s House is now open and the Waverly shopping center is slowly becoming the go-to dining development in south Charlotte. It already features some staples like Viva Chicken, CO and Taziki’s, along with some new restaurants, like Via Roma. Carolina Ale House, Yama, Desano Pizza Bakery and Babalu Tapas and Tacos will also be opening soon.

(5) 10 classic Charlotte restaurants you must try

New additions: Others you mentioned in the comment section for must try’s include Lupie’s Cafe, Mr K’s Soft Ice Cream, and the fried chicken from the Quick Shoppe at the corner of East and South boulevards.

Happy eatings in 2018!
