Uptown residents and workers can look forward to lunchtime tartines and salted caramel brownies as Amelie’s French Bakery & Cafe makes plans to reopen its location in Two Wells Fargo later this year.

An Amelie’s spokeswoman confirmed the news to CharlotteFive on Monday after the announcement in a Charlotte Business Journal interview with CEO Frank Reed late last week. The news came on the heels of news that the French cafe and bakery was ready to move its flagship location from Villa Heights to NoDa, a development that’s been in the works for quite some time. The current location closed Friday, April 22, and the new location will open Thursday, April 28 at 7 a.m.

The Uptown location had closed in November 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but a lot has changed since then. Traffic has slowly returned to Center City as workers have trickled back into their offices, and once-empty streets have filled with visitors once again.
