Pasta, please: New South Charlotte location of Little Mama’s is now open for dinner
South Charlotte is welcoming its own location of Italian hotspot Little Mama’s with the opening of the restaurant’s second location in Rea Farms on Tuesday, Jan. 23 for dinner service.
“We have cultivated a team that is excited to bring family and fresh food together in the South Charlotte area, while keeping hospitality at the center of all we do,” general manager Samantha Fugate said. “It is a privilege to become your neighbor, we look forward to serving you!”
The restaurant will be open for dinner only through Sunday, Jan. 28, with hours 5-9 p.m. through Thursday and on Sunday, and 5-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Lunch service will begin on Monday, Jan. 29, with service from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Private dining offerings and brunch will follow later.
Little Mama’s is known for its authentic Italian pastas (don’t miss the Fresh Ziti al Telefono with tomato, basil, Calabrian chili and melty mozzarella) and hearty parms (the chicken and eggplant combo gives you the best of both worlds).
But perhaps its most coveted menu feature is its fresh mozzarella bar, where the restaurant’s creamy, made-in-house mozzarella can be paired with a variety of accompaniments, including seasonal tomatoes and basil, white bean and salami salad, artichoke hearts and more.
At Rea Farms, expect the same menu with a bonus — pizza. The pies exclusive to the Rea Farms location will be: Diavola Pizza with Calabrian salami, caramelized onions, cherry peppers, provolone picante, homemade mozzarella and a Calabrian hot honey sauce; and Stracciatella Pizza with olive oil, mozzarella, house stracciatella, provolone picante, Fontina, wild mushrooms and a white truffle oil drizzle.
“Little Mama’s is a heartfelt project that has been an incredible success so far in SouthPark, even by pre-pandemic standards,” owner Frank Scibelli said in a statement when the restaurant was first announced in 2023. “I look forward to sharing the simple yet delicious flavors of my childhood — inspired by our upbringings, made by our (FS Food Group) family for the South Charlotte community.”
Little Mama’s at Rea Farms will feature a large outdoor patio and indoor seating for about 200 guests, and it will be open for brunch, lunch and dinner. The restaurant will mirror its SouthPark location, which is considered the “prequel” to Charlotte staple Mama Ricotta’s, which opened in 1992.
