A year after opening, local whiskey and cigar lounge is closing up its newest location
A local bar and lounge near Charlotte is closing its doors for good this week.
The Vintage Whiskey and Cigar Bar announced it’s shutting down its space in downtown Gastonia, formerly known as Whiskgars Cigar & Co.
The private club, known for its hand-rolled cigars and in-house crafted cocktails, purchased the space and rebranded it to be The Vintage Gastonia, CharlotteFive previously reported. But after about a year and a half in business, the team is closing its second location.
“We greatly appreciate the welcome to the Gastonia community. Our quality of guests and members has been unmatched,” the team announced on Instagram. “Unfortunately, the quantity has not been enough to sustain the business given the dynamics of our lease and costs to operate.”
Similar to its flagship location in South End, the private lounge that requires membership offers craft cocktails and elevated shareables, including charcuterie boards and seasonal tapas plates — plus weekly live performances from local musicians.
The Gastonia lounge will be open for daily business through June 30, the team said, but will be available to rent for private events, photoshoots and some community events until further notice. Its South End location will also remain open for members.
“Thank you to everyone who has been a part of The Vintage Gastonia. We’ve had a great team who will continue to be a part of The Vintage and we are eager to embrace the next chapter,” the announcement said.
