Local restaurant and wine bar opening new spot in Plaza Midwood. Take a look inside.
A popular Charlotte restaurant and wine bar is opening another spot to wine and dine in the city.
After months of anticipation, it’s time for Dilworth Tasting Room to debut its newest location, bringing its wines, creative cocktails and curated small bites to the Plaza Midwood neighborhood.
The local restaurant, which opened the doors at its first location nearly 8 years ago, began as a “humble wine retail shop” with the goal to become the Dilworth neighborhood wine bar and café with cheeses, meats, salads and other small bites.
Since then, it’s become a dining destination with several locations across the city — the OG restaurant in Dilworth and the newer upscale spot in SouthPark — offering a wider range of foods and drinks, the owners say.
DTR Plaza Midwood’s grand opening will be Tuesday, Aug. 13.
“We are very proud to be a locally grown business, embedded in the vibrant and fun Charlotte neighborhoods where we’re able to bring a piece of our Croatian heritage, along with inspirations from our Mediterranean travels, to create a distinct dining experience at each DTR location,” owners Zoe and Jaffer Kovic said in a news release.
At the new Plaza Midwood location, DTR’s menu features a wide variety of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, along with a list of classic and seasonal cocktails, plus spirit free options including:
Sopska salad
Crni Rizoto
Grilled octopus
Fried calamari
Seared tuna
Croatian kebabs
Skampi ‘Buzara’
Airline chicken breast
Cevapi
Lamb Chops
The new 3,900-square-foot restaurant will also have indoor and outdoor seating, including a bar, private event space and a garden patio.
“From the murals painted by Meredith Riggins Designs to the sleek art deco meets modern design, DTR Plaza Midwood hopes to be a memorable and artistic dining experience,” the team shared in the news release.
“Whether you’re here for a full dinner or a night of drinks and fun, DTR Plaza Midwood promises a memorable and artistic dining experience.”
