Here are the top 6 things you need to eat at Crepe Cellar before it closes Sunday

When the news broke that Crepe Cellar will close and then reopen as an Italian restaurant in NoDa, the reaction from Charlotte residents was a collective bittersweet.

“WHAT ABOUT THE PESTO BRIE FRIES,” Whitney Rose replied on CharlotteFive’s Instagram post. We feel the all caps too, Whitney.

“Please keep the French Onion Soup,” Kathryn Terry wrote.

It got us thinking about Crepe Cellar’s best menu items, the ones we will miss the most.

We have awhile to wait before the new restaurant, Ever Andalo, opens. But Crepe Cellar is closing Sunday, Jan. 30, so the time to snag a few last meals is running short.

Customers have requested some of Crepe Cellar’s meals to remain — and owners Jamie Brown Jeff Tonidandel said they will consider the requests. So stay tuned as Tonidandel finalizes the menu for Ever Andalo — we’ll keep you posted of the status of your favorite dishes.

In the meantime, here are the top six things you need to eat at Crepe Cellar before it closes (and one menu item that will remain, but it will have a different setup):

French Onion Soup

When you’re looking for soup, don’t miss this one. The classic bowl of comfort food comes smothered in melted Gruyere and includes crostini ($9).

Pesto Brie Fries

You can find fries almost anywhere, but you won’t find anything like Crepe Cellar’s Pesto Brie Fries. These hand-cut French fries are fried twice for extra crispiness and come topped with a traditional pine nut basil pesto, brie and tomatoes ($8 small, $14 large).

P.E.I. Mussels

Start your meal with elegance. The Prince Edward Island mussels are presented differently daily and are among the fan favorites at the restaurant ($16).

Among the Charlotteans jumping to mourn the loss via Crepe Cellar’s instagram were Amy Kate Curran, mamacitamontes and mulletmixer.

Crepe Cellar Burger

There’s nothing average about the Crepe Cellar Burger, covered with Gruyere, onion straws and garlic aioli on a brioche bun ($18).

Steak & Frites

When you want a steak, do it up right. This upscale meat and potatoes dish features hanger steak with a red wine reduction, paired with crispy French fries ($28).

Crepe Suzette

For something on the sweet side, try the Crepe Suzette, which pairs a Grand Marnier butter sauce with vanilla ice cream ($12).

A slice of good news

And, for a bonus, here’s one menu item we already know will remain:

Burrata

The burrata will have a different setup at Ever Andalo, Brown told CharlotteFive. But for now, this is how you can get it at Crepe Cellar: peach coulis, Greek olive oil, grilled bread, flake salt ($16, add prosciutto for $5).

Crepe Cellar’s burrata will also be on the menu at Ever Andalo, with a different setup.
