Oakhurst restaurant Forty8Hundred opens — with brunch, ramen, oxtail and more
A (now) blue house in Charlotte’s Oakhurst neighborhood is getting new life as a restaurant.
Forty8Hundred is open on Monroe Road — (4800 Monroe, get it?). Its owners renovated the former McBonies Bar & Grill.
Here’s what you can look forward to on its menu:
- Wings: Jerk pineapple, lemon pepper, cury, garlic parmesan, teriyaki
- Empanada: Fried and filled with white fish ceviche, chicken or cheese
- Jerk shrimp bowl: With white rice, cabbage & sweet plantains
- Oxtails ramen: Noodles with soup made from soy-based curry sauce, veggie broth, rich sesame paste, spicy chili oil and pepper, flavored minced chicken, scallions and fresh vegetables
- Atlantic Salmon: With king crab served over a bed of herb risotto
The restaurant also offers brunch:
- Oxtails-N-Creamy Grits
- Salmon-N-Eggs
Potato Cracklings: potato, shrimp, green onions, house sauce
- Crab cakes with bernaise sauce and Potato Cracklings
- Mashed avocado, fried eggs, heirloom tomatoes
