This Charlotte barbecue restaurant is saying goodbye Lake Norman and hello Mooresville
Mac’s Speed Shop announced on Monday that it will close its barbecue restaurant in Cornelius in anticipation of the new Mooresville location’s opening.
The Lake Norman-area location opened in 2007 and will close on Nov. 24. “We will be forever grateful to our loyal customers in Cornelius who supported our success for nearly 15 years,” Shang Skipper, President of Mac’s Hospitality Group, said in a statement.
The Mooresville location will open near spring of 2022.
The new will feature the traditions that Mac’s customers know and love, including award-winning barbecue sauce and meat along with elevated comfort foods such as mac-and-cheese and brisket chili. The local restaurant chain is also known for its live music and dog-friendly patios.
“We think everyone will like what we have planned for the new location,” Skipper said. “It will be true to our Beer-Bikes-BBQ brand and will celebrate the amazing speed shops and racing pedigree of North Mecklenburg and South Iredell communities.”
The employees of the Lake Norman Mac’s Speed Shop will be offered jobs at other Mac’s locations. Charlotte’s Mac’s locations are in South End and Steele Creek, with other restaurants in Matthews, Greensboro, Fayetteville and Wilmington and Greenville, S.C.
