Festival in the Park is back at Freedom Park beginning Friday, Sept. 16, with a few changes — including the addition of beer and wine for the first time in the festival’s 58-year history. You can also expect more food selections and double the art at the popular Charlotte event.

Here are the details:

What: Festival in the Park at Freedom Park

Location: Freedom Park, 1908 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203

When: Sept. 16-18

Festival changes:

  • Beer and wine will be available for festival attendees.
  • New food options have been added, including African food, such as Beef Samosa with Tamarind Sweet and Spicy Sauce. Other favorites will return, including gyros and funnel cakes.

  • The festival will host more than 200 visual artists, double the number from the 2021 Festival.

Four performance stages will return to the festival for the first time since 2019. Performing artists include:

  • On The Border; and
  • The Ultimate Eagles Tribute Band on the Main Stage Saturday evening.

Does it feel earlier than usual? That’s because the festival date has moved up due to the upcoming PGA President’s Cup. The festival is occurring one week earlier than its traditional date — which falls on the fall solstice.
