LA food chain with some local ingredients to make NC debut in uptown Charlotte
A Los Angeles-based fast-casual healthy restaurant chain is ready to make its debut in uptown Charlotte.
Sweetgreen will open Sept. 30 at One Independence Center, 101 N. Tryon St., the company said in a news release Wednesday.
Expect giveaways on opening day, such as customized trucker hats from Girl Tribe Co and ice cream from Golden Cow Creamery.
Also for every meal purchased on opening day, Sweetgreen will donate a meal to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
Sweetgreen’s 2,900-square-foot space has seating for 42 customers inside and 26 on the patio. The restaurant joins several new dining options in uptown, including Monarch Market food hall, which opened last fall on the ground level at One Independence Center.
Sweetgreen’s menu
Sweetgreen offers customizable salads, warm bowls and protein plates. Prices range from $12 to $15, The Charlotte Observer previously reported.
Staples include the Harvest Bowl made with roasted chicken and sweet potatoes, apples, goat cheese, roasted almonds, wild rice, shredded kale and balsamic vinaigrette, and Crispy Rice Bowl.
Protein offerings include Miso Glazed Salmon and Steakhouse Chopped.
Sweetgreen focuses on fresh organic, regenerative and locally-sourced ingredients.
Three seasonal bowls — air-fried Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts with chicken protein plate or sweet potatoes sides, and Autumn Harvest Bowl — feature North Carolina sourced ingredients. The goat cheese is from Goat Lady Dairy in Climax and the sweet potatoes are from Watkins Farms in Oxford.
Sweetgreen Uptown hours will be 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. Orders for pickup and delivery can be made online or through the app.
