Cheese shop with 100+ varieties to open Myers Park storefront. ‘A new chapter’
Orrman’s Cheese Shop, a Charlotte favorite, will soon open the doors on its new storefront.
After more than a decade at The Market at 7th Street, the cut-to-order cheese spot is trading its food stall for a brick-and-mortar spot on Selwyn Avenue in Myers Park. The grand opening is Monday, May 4.
“We are so grateful for every visit, every conversation, and all the cheese we’ve shared over the years,” owners Rachel Klebaur and Jose Espinosa wrote in a recent Instagram post. Their farewell message was accompanied by video of an employee shutting off the lights at the 7th Street location one last time.
“This isn’t goodbye, just a new chapter,” they wrote.
Orrman’s is a full-service cheese shop offering more than 100 varieties of artisan cheeses. You’ll also find meats, olives, jams and other accoutrements to build your own charcuterie board, CharlotteFive reported.
Craving a grilled cheese sandwich? They’ve got those too, plus soup, salads and raclette — a traditional Swiss dish featuring melted Alpine cheese scraped onto bread, potatoes and cornichons.
Klebaur and Espinosa are self-described “cheese people.” The husband-and-wife duo prioritizes quality and service, ensuring every cheese wedge that lands in Orrman’s curated cases is individually cared for and served at peak freshness, according to the shop’s website.
Also, most of Orrman’s cheeses are sourced from local and regional producers.
“Some might call this devotion, but we just call it our lifelong commitment,” the shop’s website says. “Are we married to cheese? Nooooo. Do we love it? Til’ death do us part.”
CharlotteFive reached out to Orrman’s Cheese Shop for more information on its new location and was awaiting a response.
