Who needs a crowd? Here are some of Charlotte’s best spots for solo dining.
There are plenty of times when solo dining in Charlotte fits the bill. Sometimes you’re on the go when hunger calls. Sometimes you just need to get out of your space. And, sometimes, you just want to be adventurous.
A few years ago, former Charlotte Observer food editor Kathleen Purvis shared a few of what she thought were the best places to dine alone in Charlotte with Eater. But as you know, things change quickly around here (R.I.P., The Stanley). And since then, the demand for solo dining reservations has only continued to increase.
With many in Charlotte dining alone these days, we put the question back out to you — and you answered the call.

Jinya Ramen Bar
Location: Ally Charlotte Center, 601 S Tryon St Unit 132, Charlotte, NC 28202
Location: 4401 Barclay Downs Dr Suite 134, Charlotte, NC 28209
I really like Jinya at the Ally Building. If you can park outside, you can get two hours on the meter. Which to me is really great — it’s under four dollars! Jinya has some of the best ramen noodle soup, and when the music is not too loud, it’s very comfortable for a solo party in the bar area. The bar area not only has seats at the bar, but it has about four sections in a separate area from the bar that are very quiet and quaint. When I am dining alone, I don’t like to have a lot of people around while I’m eating. I would like to enjoy the quietness of eating and maybe looking at some of my messages or just winding down. — Melanie Dunston

It’s really a nice place for the solo eater. Everything is a plus here! You have parking. You’re inside to eat and you have choices! I come here just to go through my calendar to check my appointments, just to people watch! And I ... use a wheelchair so these ... places are definitely accessible to people that use devices — and this is definitely a plus for me! — Melanie Dunston
