A local spot named the best new restaurant in North Carolina is bringing another location to Charlotte.

Months after opening a second spot to serve up its gourmet groceries and chef-prepared specialties, the team behind Salted Melon Market & Eatery announced that another one is on the way.

This spring, the fast-casual market and restaurant is expanding to Phillips Place — in the same space the team held a holiday popup last month near P.F. Chang’s and Southern Pecan Gulf Coast Kitchen.

“We look forward to becoming a fixture in SouthPark for healthy, gourmet meals and goods,” Thomas Coker, co-owner of Salted Melon, said in a statement emailed to CharlotteFive.

Salted Melon Market, run by the owners of Reid’s Fine Foods, joined Charlotte’s food scene in 2022 and later secured the space formerly home to Hubee D’s last spring. (Fun fact: The “one-stop-shop for Charlotte food lovers” was Southern Living’s pick for best new eatery in the state.)

Similar to its sister locations, the newest SouthPark area restaurant will also have its classic all-day menu of salads, bowls, sandwiches, wraps, smoothies, coffee, cold-pressed juices and tea along with an espresso bar, pastries and market items in the 2,769-square-foot space that can seat up to 100 people inside or outdoors on the patio.

“Salted Melon’s versatile offerings will be a wonderful and unique addition to Phillips Place. It’s such a strong local concept and we couldn’t be more excited to have Salted Melon’s Market and Eatery opening here soon,” said Stephen Summers, managing director of The Village Collection, which co-owns Phillips Place.
