It’s been four years since Steve and Mia Kim returned back to the U.S. after teaching English abroad. Now they’ve got a piece of the past right here in Charlotte.
Gone are the days of reminiscing of their daily runs to their favorite neighborhood cafe in Korea. Instead, the couple gets to experience the sweet aroma of nostalgia and baked goods after bringing it to the Queen City.
Paris Baguette has 4,000 locations worldwide, including 200 in more than 20 states. In North Carolina, there are two in the Triangle but this will be the first in the Charlotte area — before another one coming not too far in Indian Land, South Carolina.
“We started as customers of the brand. I would’ve never imagined that I was going to own a Paris Baguette,” Kim explained. “But we were customers and we enjoyed eating all the pastries and the cakes every birthday… but we didn’t really find things like that around here and that was sort of the spark that started all of this.”
The beloved bakery’s menu boasts a wide variety of sweet and savory bites, which is why it served as a daily staple during the Kims’ seven-year stay in Asia. Now, you can get a taste of its popular pastries at Rea Farms shopping center, including:
Layered cakes, cheesecakes and pies
Croissants, danishes and doughnuts
Baguettes, croquettes and quiche
Sandwiches, wraps and salads
Coffees, smoothies and teas
